John's Life

Created by Linda 14 years ago
John Robert Clark died peacefully at home Saturday, March 20 after losing his long battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Linda Fitzgerald-Clark. Born in Ft Wayne Indiana, son of the late Joseph H. Clark Jr. and Mary Ryman Clark, the family relocated to Trumbull Connecticut when John was a toddler. He was raised in Trumbull and moved to Madison ten years ago. John was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He studied engineering at the University of Bridgeport. His long career in Information Services included ten years with Peoples Bank of Bridgeport followed by Yale-New Haven Health Systems where he became the Supervisor of Systems Administration & Data Center Infrastructure prior to his illness. John had many interests and hobbies. He was an amateur astronomer and loved the ten years he spent as a lecturer at the Planetarium at the Discovery Museum. He was interested in space exploration, closely following N.A.S.A. space programs. In 2009 he attended a fun “astronaut for a day program” at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. John also loved photography and home improvement projects. He often combined these two passions and gave his friends and colleagues a detailed slide show of his projects (sorry guys!). He was well known for his sense of humor and could make people laugh in any situation. His wit and determination persevered throughout his illness. In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter Jennifer Clark of Trumbull, step-daughter Ashley Claire Eamiello of Doylestown PA, his good friend and former wife Alberta Clark of Trumbull, his brother and his wife Joseph and Carolyn Clark of Southbury, his sister and her husband Ruth and Dutch VanBrunshot of Mesa AZ, brother-in-law John Fitzgerald and his wife Diane Fitzgerald of Clinton, brother-in-law Paul Fitzgerald Pittsfield MA, several nieces and nephews and many friends. A celebration of his life will be held Friday, March 26 at 2PM at the First Congregational Church, 22 Meeting House Lane, Madison. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Smilow Cancer Center at Yale Office of Development 20 York Street, New Haven CT 06504. The family would like to express their gratitude to the special caregivers of Yale Cancer Center, Connecticut Hospice Home Care Program and their supportive employers and friends.
